1. Introduction & Purpose
This Privacy Policy applies to ClipShorter (“ClipShorter”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) and governs our data handling practices across our web application located at https://app.clipshorter.com, our landing page, APIs, and associated video clipping services (collectively, the “Service”).
We are committed to operating with complete transparency. We treat your creative video footage, audio recordings, spoken transcripts, and account credentials with strict confidentiality and security. By accessing or using our Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
We only collect information necessary to deliver, maintain, and optimize your video repurposing experience:
- Account & Profile Information: When you register for an account, we collect your name, email address, password hash, and organization details (if applicable).
- Payment & Billing Data: Payment card details, billing address, and transaction histories are processed directly by our PCI-DSS compliant third-party payment processor (Stripe). ClipShorter does not store full credit card numbers or security CVV codes on our servers.
- User Video & Media Inputs: Video URLs (e.g. YouTube, Zoom, Loom, Google Drive, Vimeo links) and raw video files (MP4, MOV, MKV) that you submit for transcription, hook detection, framing, and clip export.
- Generated Derivative Assets: Extracted short-form clips, edited transcript text, timed captions, and customized video projects stored in your user library.
- Log & Telemetry Data: Browser user agent, IP address, operating system, render latency, error logs, and session interactions to ensure platform stability and diagnose rendering bugs.
3. Strict AI Model Training & Intellectual Property Protections
Our Core Commitment: ClipShorter does NOT sell your uploaded video files, transcripts, or personal data. We do NOT utilize your private, unlisted, or proprietary video footage to train, fine-tune, or improve public third-party foundation models without your explicit prior written consent.
Your source footage is processed strictly through isolated, secure compute instances for the purpose of executing the requested feature operations (speech-to-text, active speaker facial bounding, and video rendering).
4. How We Process Your Media
We process your content solely to perform our contractual service:
- Generating speech transcripts and keyword alignments for karaoke captions.
- Running computer vision algorithms to detect active human faces for 9:16 vertical reframing.
- Analyzing audio energy and sentiment to calculate Virality Hook recommendations.
- Rendering composite video files with your selected caption fonts, colors, and B-roll overlays.
- Publishing clips directly to connected third-party social media accounts when you explicitly initiate publishing.
5. Third-Party Social Media Integrations & OAuth
If you choose to link third-party accounts (such as TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, or LinkedIn), we store standard encrypted OAuth access tokens. These tokens are used solely to upload and schedule the specific video clips you approve. We do not scrape, read, or distribute your external private direct messages, subscriber rosters, or non-public channel data.
You may revoke ClipShorter's access to any external platform at any time via your account settings or directly within the third-party platform's permissions portal.
6. Data Retention & Auto-Purging
Raw source video files and intermediate render caches are automatically purged from our ephemeral GPU clusters within 30 days of processing. Rendered output clips in your project dashboard are retained for as long as your account remains in active standing, or until you manually choose to delete them.
Upon account termination or explicit deletion request, all personal data, source files, and project archives are permanently deleted from our primary databases within 14 business days.
7. GDPR, CCPA & Global User Rights
Regardless of your geographic location, ClipShorter provides you with the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to Access & Portability: You may request a machine-readable copy of your personal data.
- Right to Rectification: You may correct inaccurate or incomplete account details directly via your profile.
- Right to Erasure (“Right to Be Forgotten”): You may request full permanent deletion of your account and all associated video data.
- Right to Restriction & Objection: You may object to specific data processing activities or revoke marketing communications.
To exercise any of these privacy rights, please submit a request to our data protection team at help@clipshorter.com. Requests are verified and processed within 30 calendar days.
8. Cookies & Analytics
We utilize essential session cookies required for authentication, security verification, and load balancing. We may also use privacy-focused, anonymized analytics to measure site traffic and feature popularity. We do not use intrusive cross-site tracking cookies to serve third-party behavioral advertisements.
9. Children's Privacy
ClipShorter is intended strictly for creators, businesses, and individuals aged 18 and older (or at least 13 with parental consent where permitted by law). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a minor has created an account without parental authorization, please notify us at help@clipshorter.com and we will expeditiously terminate the account.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect technological improvements, legal mandates, or operational enhancements. When material revisions occur, we will notify you by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document and delivering an in-app notice or email notification before the changes take effect.
